TECHNICAL DETAIL

PSC cables utilizes the very best raw materials in the construction of all the cables in their extensive range. Unlike other silver cables, all PSC cables are made from silver bullion of the highest purity (99.9999%) acquired direct from the mines themselves.

Almost all other cable companies use machines for the process of shaping wires and this causes fractures in the metal structure. Using a custom special heating process PSC shapes the bullion, taking special care not to cause any fractures thus preserving the structural integrity of the materials since all fractures influence wire conductivity and crystalline integrity.

Many cable manufacturers promote Teflon as the best dielectric when in fact there is no better dielectric than air itself . The use of air as a perfect dielectric is possible only when silver or gold conductors are used. Unfortunately copper oxidises in contact with air. Copper will also react with many insulation materials. Silver does not oxidise so readily and moreover silver oxide is itself a conductor.

Silver isolated from air circulation will never tarnish. Any other dielectric (such as P.V.C, TEFLON etc.) will cause distortion in signal transfer. One of the disadvantages of Teflon is that a temperatures in excess of 600 F is required to fuse the resin granules of Teflon into a fluid mass that will flow over the conductor. This temperature will oxidise both bare copper and the tin on the tin- coated copper conductors. Claims by many cable makers that they are using oxygen free copper 6N or 7N are true for only a few seconds in the lab. That is how quickly copper oxidisation and degradation occurs.

PSC cables are constructed by a combination three methodologies: Litz construction, single core and twisted pair design. All conductors isolated separately (Litz) are better for transmitting high frequencies than multi-strand. Solid wire is advantageous because it can conduct high current or high frequencies more efficiently than standard wire.

This cable starts out as Pure Silver and Pure Gold ingots. The silver is melted, formed into ribbons, and than fully annealed as are all of the silver ribbon used in our cables.

Some of the ribbons are processed in a proprietary manner with Pure Gold. Both the Pure Silver ribbons and the Gold Plated Pure Silver ribbons are placed in air dielectric tubes.

The resulting sound is very clean, warm, rhythmic, and musical. The addition of Pure Gold provides a smooth analog magic to the music. Utilizing the benefits of twisted pair technology very low level micro detail comes through clearly against a very quiet background.

The Mk-1 Silver features conductors that are large guage strands of solid core fully annealed pure silver, which are contained in an air dielectric and formed into a twisted pair. Gold plated plugs are also employed in this model.

The imaging is sharp yet smooth and the bass is solid, fast and musical. This cord, because of the MK-1 design, is better for low-level signal components such as players, preamps, DAC's, turn tables, etc.
